MR JIN SUNG
A Malaysian born and professionally trained in Australia. Jin is a Singapore Registered Architect since 1999. He joined ID Architects (IDA) in 1995 and became a partner in year 2000. He has since been appointed as Executive Director in 2007 after the corporatization of IDA. Today, he runs IDA’s group business across different countries with a total staff’s strength of more than 250 professionals.
Over the last 30 years, Jin has worked extensively on architectural and master planning projects in many regions and sectors such as multiple typology Industrial sectors, Institutional development, Mixed-Use Developments and Motorsport. As a result of his vast experience, he contributed greatly to IDA’s expertise as a specialist practice in many fields.
Jin is also the key leader in IDA’s transformation since 2010. Particularly in the adoption of BIM in 2010, Virtual Design Construction (VDC) in 2015, CDE (Newforma), Virtual Reality technology (VR) in 2016 and Computational Design in 2017. Through these technologies development, IDA has brought positive impact to the industry via formation of IDA Technology Pte Ltd (2018) and IDA Academy (2020). To date, IDA is developing AI for both internal and external use where it envisaged a huge contribution to the industry.
SYNOPSIS
Overview
The architecture profession is transitioning from a drafting-centric model to a data-driven, regenerative practice. This presentation explores how the convergence of AI, immersive technology, and radical sustainability is redefining the architect’s role from a solitary creator to a high-tech orchestrator of complex systems.
Key Discussion Pillars
* AI & Computational Design: Moving beyond visualization to Performance-Based Design. We examine how AI-driven generative workflows automate code compliance and optimize building forms based on real-time environmental data.
* Virtual Reality & Digital Twins: Transitioning VR from a "final reveal" tool to an essential collaboration medium. We explore how digital replicas use live data to manage a building’s entire lifecycle.
* The Evolving Skillset: How automation is liberating architects from repetitive tasks, allowing a renewed focus on design
The Takeaway: The competitive edge now belongs to firms that blend human intuition with algorithmic precision to solve design challenges.
