Synopsis:
BIM is here to stay.
So was CAD 30+ years ago that took over manual drafting. By and large, CAD is strictly a 2D technology system that uses many separate (usually 2D) drawings to explain a building. Drawing and editing lines has become faster and more efficient, but in the end, they are still collections of manually created, non-intelligent lines and texts.Fast forward to the present day, as buildings became more and more complex, specialisation in the design and construction process emerged. Integrated building systems continue to expand with the growth of technology building systems continue to expand with the growth of technology. In turn, this led to the need for more elaborate forms of information exchange.
BIM is born, and with it the foundation for a new approach to how buildings are designed, evaluated, represented,
and documented. Many projects have now successfully implemented BIM with significant benefits, including increased
design quality, improved field productivity, cost predictability, reduced conflicts and changes, reduced construction cost and duration to name a few. More and more projects in the future shall be implemented by BIM over CAD.
Welcome to the world of Building Information Modeling. Are you ready for BIM? This seminar cum workshop provides you with all the information to go into the BIM world with roadmaps. The roadmaps will lead to be a BIM compliance architectural firm. It will then guide you with information to do a BIM project or client with an ISO 19650 BIM status.
WONG KOOI KAM (KIM WONG) graduated in B. Sc (Design Studies) and B. Arch from UNSW, Sydney, Australia, and he has been practicing architecture in Malaysia since 1991. He had helped set up and implement AutoCAD for many architectural andengineering firms in Penang back in the 90s, in additional to training professionals.
When Revit was first introduced to Malaysia in 2004, he was recruited by Autodesk/CadPartners to look into promoting Revit for the architectural and construction industry. He fell in love with the Revit ever since version 6.0. Many of his works has been published in RevitCity forum website.
In 2011, he was sought out by a London based architecture-ID-graphic design firm in KL to help implement Revit in the office, where he used Revit intensively on commercial and shopping mall projects. In this organisation, he assumes the positions of Revit Architect, Revit Trainer and BIM Manager. He last BIM Manager post was in 2019 for a Singapore architectural firm based in KL.He regularly conducts Revit workshop and classes at ATC centre in Penang and PAM & IEM Centres through Malaysia. He now specializes in doing in-house BIM S.O.P Revt –Architecture-Structure-MEP training and implementation for small and medium firms. He also provides consultation services on BIM projects.
