Synopsis
As SEA’s city continues to grow into a metropolitan hub, its global mindset remains vital for progress. But this needs to be reset for more diverse insights and capabilities.
At the same time, preserving our local culture and heritage for future generations is more crucial than ever. Homegrown values can inspire and strengthen the community’s identity, drawing rich lessons from the past to meet the unique contemporary needs of the city state.
How can we pursue world-class standards while staying true to the local identity, creating buildings that can resonate with for decades to come?
Also, we are seeing intergenerational transfers of skills and crafts by bringing communities together. However, while certain industries get a new lease of life, regenerated through the injection of new blood, most slowly fade into the past. What if architecture could play a greater role in facilitating the exchange of fresh ideas and genuine endeavours?
