Synopsis

Ar Wee wish to speak about sufficiency - a notion of using only what is enough to achieve a purpose. This is a worthwhile principle to cultivate, especially for young architects whose projects are likely to have smaller budgets, and for students of architecture.
Ar Wee will attempt to illustrate this through some of our built projects: by crafting the structure, to re-use the existing, prioritizing the usage of materials and systems and finally, to design elements and spaces to have more than one function.

Ar Wee Hii Min graduated from Deakin University in the late 80's; an uneventful journey until Year 3 when he began to understand more about this career path that he  had chosen under the tutelage of several motivational lecturers. After graduating, Ar Wee worked for 9 years in a large commercial practice in Kuching. In 2000, he joined 3 others to set up Design Network Architects (DNA).  Three  years  ago, Ar Wee left DNA after 14 years to set up MinWee Architect - this will be the first time that he is speaking to an audience as a sole practitioner.
“Ar Wee: It feels a little late in life but my friends tell me that architects are late bloomers - so there should be a good 15 years left in these legs.”
